Aisha said that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that 'Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death)."
[Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.65 Narrated by Aisha]
Was this just for Aisha (R)?
Such of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses for them the prescribed period if ye have any doubt is three months and for those who have no courses (it is the same): for those who carry (life within their wombs) their period is until they deliver their burdens: and for those who fear Allah He will make their path easy. [65: 4]
Ibn Kathir said... 'and for those who have no courses...' are the young, who have not reached the years of menstruation.
So it is fine for any girl to be married before puberty.
I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the Prophet, and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah's Apostle used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, but the Prophet would call them to join and play with me.
[Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.151 Narrated by Aisha]
Girls were not forced to grow up fast or loose their childhood. They continued to play like girls do.
The Prophet was screening me with his Rida' (garment covering the upper part of the body) while I was looking at the Ethiopians who were playing in the courtyard of the mosque. (I continued watching) till I was satisfied. So you may deduce from this event how a little girl (who has not reached the age of puberty) who is eager to enjoy amusement should be treated in this respect.
[Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.163 Narrated by Aisha]
Here Aisha tells us that she had not reached puberty at the time when she was married to and living with the
Prophet (P.B.U.H.), and that he allowed her to continue enjoying the things that little girls find fun.
Ibn Majah and some other transmitters report the following hadith: A girl came to the Prophet (peace be on him) and informed him that her father had married her to her cousin against her wishes, whereupon the Prophet (peace be on him) allowed her to exercise her choice. She then said, 'I am reconciled to what my father did but I wanted to make it known to women that fathers have no say in this matter.'
Of course in the above hadith, the girl has to be asked even if she is young. Usually throughout history and in the time of Prophet
(P.B.U.H.), people use to marry their
sons and daughters when they were as young as eleven or twelve in normal cases. It is usually the kuffar thinking now a days that people have to marry when they are well beyond their teenage years. The Muslims of today copy the kuffar as Prophet
(P.B.U.H.)
foretold! If we look at the best kuffar nations of today, they are all full of
habitual fornicators and adulterers. So Prophet (P.B.U.H.)
said, if a person from this Ummah imitates others, he/she is one of them (i.e. kuffar plus adulterer).
