Irjaa
is a disease that has infected the Muslim ummah. It is spreading rapidly
throughout the worldwide ummah and its spread is fuelled by a biased
news media, by ignorant Muslims, and by wicked and corrupted scholars
alike. Irjaa is a deadly disease, more dangerous than Cancer, more
dangerous than AIDS, and if allowed to continue its spread, unchallenged
by the defence of the pure Islamic aqeedah this disease would inevitably
result in ultimate disaster.
Irjaa means liberalism and is derived from the root word (raja) which in
the Arabic language means "hope". Murji is the singular word
for the liberal Muslim, while the word Murjiah indicates the group.
The Murji is the liberal Muslim who gives himself hope and who extends
hope to others. However this hope is a false hope, as it is based purely
upon individual emotion, and desires. This false sense of hope it
completely unsubstantiated by any evidence from Quran or from the Sunnah
of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saws)
The Murji is one who believes that Islam is in the heart, therefore it
is irrelevant whether or not one practically applies Allah's revelation
consistently in his daily life. The Murji has been deluded and is
actually convinced that as long as he believes firmly within his heart
that there is no other God than Allah and that Muhammad is the last
messenger of Allah, that he will be guaranteed Paradise in the
hereafter.
The great fitna that arises between us, Ahlus Sunnah wa'l Jammah, and
them, the Murjiah stems from the fact that the Murji has no clue or
understanding as to the reality of Iman. Whenever one is unable to
define any particular aspect of Islam, that individual is at a loss and
is unable to understand, implement, and apply that aspect of Islam. It
is for this reason that the classical scholars of this ummah have gone
to great lengths and effort in order to carefully outline and define all
aspects of Islam. They did this as a means of safeguarding and
preserving Islam from innovation, deviation, corruption and confusion.
There are many people from among the Murjiah who believe that Iman is
awareness, and that as long as one is aware that Allah exists and that
Muhammad (saws) is his messenger, then one is a Muslim perfect in Iman.
This concept is the poisonous aqeedah of a deviant group called the
Jahmiyya and their founder, Jahm ibn Safwan. This aqeedah is so
dangerous that by accepting this definition of Iman one must
automatically accept the Firauwn of Egypt inside the fold of Islam.
"Outwardly they rejected faith, but inwardly they were convinced
that Musa brought the truth…look what we shall do to the rejecters of
faith." Surah Naml:14
Furthermore if we should be deluded into accepting this erroneous
definition of Iman, then we would also be required to accept Ahlul Kitab
(the Jews and the Christians) as our brothers in Islam.
"Ahlul Kitab, (the people of the book) recognize Muhammad (saws)
as they recognize their own sons, but verily a party of them conceal the
truth." Surah Baqarah:146
According to these Quranic ayat it is clear that Iman could never be
awareness, yet despite this clear and overwhelming evidence, many
deviants hold fast to this false aqeedah. Still there are other Murji
who believe that Iman is declaration of the tongue. They believe that as
long as you believe in Allah and judgement day and declare it openly
with your tongue that you are a believer, perfect in Iman.
Based upon this definition of Iman, Satan Iblis is included within the
fold of Islam, and you must love and respect him and give to him the
rights you are required to give your Muslim brother. Iblis said:
"Oh my Lord, grant me respite until Judgment Day when they will
be resurrected" Surah Hijr:36
Iblis has clearly declared Allah as "Oh my Lord". In addition
to accepting Iblis inside the fold of Islam with this definition of
Iman, you also must open the doors to all of Iblis's hundreds of
millions of followers, every single hypocrite in the Muslim World. With
this definition, Iman is reduced to mere lip service alone, and the
shahadda of the hypocrite carries the same weight as the shahadda of the
sincere believing Muslim.
There is only one valid definition of Iman, and that is the definition
as it was given to us by ibn Abbas, the cousin of the Prophet (saws).
Iman is conviction of the heart
Iman is declaration of the tongue
Iman is implementation of the limbs
Despite all of this evidence, still the hypocrites propagate this Murji
aqeedah and insist that their actions are not a part of Iman. The reason
why the insist on propagating this false aqeedah is because THEY DON'T
WANT TO PRACTICE ISLAM! The average "Muslim" on the street
wants for the Sheikhs and the scholars to tell them, "You don't
have to grow a beard", "Smoking isn’t haraam",
"You don't really have to wear hijab", "Music is
perfectly halaal", "Democracy is the way forward" etc,
etc, etc; In other words, the Islam that they want to hear about is the
Islam that says, there is no more Islam!
When you stand your ground and establish the evidence against them they
will hate you and slander you and call you an extremist, a
fundamentalist, and maybe even a terrorist. This is all because they are
dissatisfied with what Allah has revealed and prefer instead their evil
and corrupted desires. They hate Allah’s message!
You may think that the greatest enemies of Islam are the
Zionist/Crusaders and the colonialist imperialist block of England,
France and the USA, but when you look closely you will see that the
greatest enemies of Islam are the "Muslims" themselves! They
are the ones who have dismantled the Shariah of Allah and have replaced
it with man made laws. They are the ones who arrest and imprison and
torture the sincere scholars of Ahlus Sunnah wa'l Jammah.
Look at the situation in the Muslim World today. Why in countries like
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Indonesia, all countries whose populations
are majority Muslim is there no Islamic Shariah in implementation? Ask
yourself the question, Why is Masjid Al-Aqsa in the hands of the Jews?
Why have the Zionist/Crusaders and their Satanic Dajjal Military troops
colonized our Holy Lands? The answer to this question is that the vast
majority of Muslims have turned their backs on Islam and have abandoned
their duties as Muslims. Many more are woefully ignorant of even the
most basic and fundamental elements of Islam, while countless more have
apostated entirely.
As Muslims we are duty bound to uphold the truth of Al- Islam and to
expose, and refute the deviants where they have clearly strayed in
regards to Tawheed and Aqeedah. We do this with Quran and Sunnah,
submitting wholeheartedly to the revelation and guidance of Allah with
certainty. Abandoning doubt as well as our whimsical notions, desires
and ideas when they collide with the criterion of Quran and Sunnah.
Actions are a part of Iman. Sahih Muslim vol. 1 pg. 27 "Your Iman
consists of 70 and some odd branches, the highest is to say that there
is no God but Allah, while the lowest is to remove a harmful thing from
the road."
Ibn Majah #4108 "To dress in a humble manner is a branch of
Iman."
The companions of the Prophet (saws) used to face Jeruselem as a Qiblah
for 7 months. When they were told to face Mecca instead they asked about
the salat that they had offered while facing the direction of Jerusalem.
They wanted to know if they would receive any baraka for all of these
previous prayers. Allah answered them saying:
"It is not for Allah to make your Iman go to waste." Sura
Baqarah:143
Here we find Allah telling us that the action of our Salat is Iman. This
is further substantiated in the tafseer of ibn Katheer vol 1 pg. 197:
"Your salat to Bait ul Maqdis is Iman."
But remember the Murji doesn't want to practice Islam, so he keeps on
insisting that his actions are not a part of Iman. The Murji often says
"My heart is pure" but we must refute him by telling him that
he is liar! His heart is corrupted, if his heart were pure then his
actions also would be pure.
Sahih Bukhari vol. 1 pg. 44 #49 "In your heart is a lump of flesh,
and if that lump of flesh is pure, then all of you becomes pure, and if
that lump of flesh is corrupted, then all of you becomes corrupted,
verily that lump of flesh is the heart."
The Murji claims that he doesn't have to pray, as long as he is aware of
the fact that salat is compulsory. But our evidence from Quran tells us
clearly that the individual who doesn't pray will be in the Hell-fire.
"What caused you to be in Saqr?…they will say we never used to
pray, and we never used to feed the poor, our talk was filled with
vanity, and we used to deny the day of Judgment." Sura
Muddathir:42-48
We
know that Saqr is a place in the Hellfire, that if one should enter he
will never get out of. This is because the Pharaoh and Abu Lahab will
both be in Saqr.
The Murji also believes that Iman is static, and that Iman does not
fluctuate, nor rise or fall. Therefore the Murji believes that Iman is
constant. It is incumbent upon us to provide evidence to refute such a
baseless claim.
"It is Allah who sent down sakina (tranquillity) in the hearts
of the believers in order that they may grow in Iman." Sura Fath:4
"As
for those who believe, this sura caused them to grow in Iman and they
were rejoicing." Surah Taubah:124-125
"We
caused them to grow in Iman." Al Imran:173
In
addition to the Murjiahs refusal of all of these aforementioned Quranic
ayat and hadeeth, there is also one statement in particular that the
Murji can frequently be heard saying which is extremely disturbing to
the people of Iman. This statement must be refuted and corrected;
"Who are you to judge?" Since the disease of irjaa is rife and
widespread amongst the Muslim ummah, I'm quite certain that most Muslims
have heard this statement coming from the mouth of the Murji at one time
or another.
Jabir ibn abdullah witnessed a funeral at Banu Maslama and said "I
was beside the Rasool (saws) and the people said "Oh rasoolullah
(saws), what a wonderful man that man was, he was a good Muslim, an
upright man, and he was kind-hearted and the Rasool (saws) said "Wajibat,
Wajibat, so shall it be, so shall it be" Then Jabir ibn Abdullah
said he witnessed a different funeral at a different place, Banu
Harathaa and when the body passed by, the people said "Ya
Rasoolullah (saws) what a wretched man that man was, he was hard hearted
and cruel, and they spoke very badly about him, and the Prophet (saws)
said, "Wajibat, Wajibat, so shall it be, so shall it be, You
Muslims are the witnesses of Allah on earth." The evidence can be
found in the Mustadrak of al Hakim as well as in the Tafseer of ibn
Katheer vol. 1 pg. 196-197.
"We have made you a balanced nation to be witnesses over mankind
while the Prophet (saws) is a witness over you." Sura Baqarah:143
The hypocrite will do everything in his capability to dodge this
evidence, the hypocrite does not want for you to judge because he loves
the life of this world too much, more then Allah and the Rasool (S)!
The Khawarij told ibn Abbas, "We are not here to judge" and
ibn Abbas refuted them with one solitary Quranic ayat;
"Whenever
you fear a man may split up from his wife, bring a witness from both
sides." Surah Nisa:35
Allah
has commanded us to Judge! The Murji is in defiance to this command, he
wants to marginalize Islam strictly to the level of the individual. The
Murji wants to make Islam like Christianity. Christianity though is
entirely different, it has to be marginalized to the individual because
it is lacking and is an incomplete system, inadequate to cover all
aspects of life. Islam on the other hand is a complete package as Allah
has perfected and completed this religion. Islam cannot be marginalized
to the level of the individual.
The Murji says "Don't focus on the ruler or the Shariah,
concentrate and focus on yourself" What is the reply of Ahlus
Sunnah wa'l Jammah in response to such a statement? We begin with an
example extracted from the Caliphate of our first Caliph, Abu Bakr-as
Siddeeq (ra) when he said "Obey me only if I obey Allah and his
Messenger (saws)" After this when Umar (ra) became Caliph, during
his opening acceptance speech a man from amongst the crowd held his
sword high and said to Umar (ra) "Umar, if you should ever stray
from Quran and Sunnah and from that which Abu Bakr has established, I
shall sort you out with this sword of mine!" The people of the time
were very much afraid of Umar (ra), but this man wasn't afraid of Umar.
This man had taqwa and this man feared Allah. When he said this, the
rest of the sahaba remained quiet, not a single one from among them told
this man to be quiet and to concentrate on himself and not concern
himself with the ruler or the shariah. This very incident confirms and
illustrates the ijma (consensus) of the sahabas on this issue. Silence
is consent.
The reason why these hypocrites tell you to "forget about the
shariah and concentrate on yourself" is because the Paymasters of the Wicked Scholars have dismantled the shariah, and they
don't want for you to overthrow their paymasters. They go as far as to
claim that it is the Qadr of Allah for these tyrannical rulers to be
ruling the earth. (This is actually the aqeedah of the Jabriyya)
The wicked scholars use a daif (weak) hadeeth in an attempt to justify
the dismantling of the shariah. They resort to the hadeeth, "Kufr
dun al Kufr" (the kufr of the lesser degree). The chain of
transmitters for this hadeeth is inaccurate. Within the chain of
transmission is a man by the name of Hisham ibn Hajr. In the book
entitled "Mawrifa til Rijal" by the classical scholar Ali ibn
Medani, the author says "Hisham ibn Hajr wrote his books
independently, away from the people, so in his hadeeth there is a great
deal of confusion and many contradictions."
Tafseer Qurtubi says regarding this that Tawoos said "Kufr dun al
Kufr" not ibn Abbas.
Tafseer ibn Abbas says that ibn Abbas said it.
Abdullah ibn Tawoos is said to have said it in other various Tafseers.
So who said it?
Tafseer ibn Katheer is the concise version of Tafseer al Tabari. In the
tafseer of Tabari, when ibn Abbas was asked about the status of the
people who dismantled the shariah, ibn Abbas said in vol. 4 pg.
166…"This person is a KAFFIR because of this action!" This
statement is the accurate fatwa of ibn Abbas regarding the issue, and
those who propagate and defend the false aqeedah of "Kufr dun al
Kufr" have gone against the ijma of the ummah in this regard.
Fatawa ibn Tayammiah, vol 28 pg. 524 "It's known of Islam by
necessity, and by the consensus of all the Muslims that the moment you
dismantle one aspect of the shariah, you become a kaffir."
Tafseer ibn Katheer vol. 2 pg. 64
"It's known of Islam by necessity that the moment you dismantle the
shariah, you become a kaffir and must be fought." Both sources
reflect the ijma of the Muslims and say that all the Muslims agree in
regards to this, even the layman in the street knows this! As Muslims we
only obey laws that coincide with Quran and Sunnah.
Its agreed upon that the leaders who dismantle the shariah of Allah
commit Kufr…But the scholars who cement the thrones of the leaders
commiting kufr also become deviants and perverted!
"Oh you who believe, do not take the Jews and Christians for
helpers and protectors, they are friends of each other, and he who turns
to them for help is one of them." Sura Maidah:51
It is clear from this ayat that Jews and Christians are kaffirs and if
you turn to them for help you also one of them. The same applies for
those who take sides with Hindus, Buddhists, hypocrites, and apostates.
Fatawa of ibn Tayammiah vol 35 pg. 373 "Anytime a scholar leaves
off his knowledge and follows the ruler in a government that goes
against Quran and Sunnah, this Scholar has become one of them and
deserves to be punished both in this life and in the hereafter."
Not only are these scholars have deviated, but their students who blind follow
them and fail to correct them or draw attention to their transgression
have also deviated!
These leaders, these wicked scholars, and these students who
blindly follow them are the enemies of Allah, the Rasool (saws) and al
Islam. When you are a sincere believer and truly love Allah, you could
never take the enemies of Allah as friends. You would hate even the
shadow of such a person who would cement the throne of the
leaders bent on doing kufr.
The next question that arises is, will Allah let the layman off on
Judgment Day, who is blind following a sheikh or scholar, claiming that
he is ignorant? The answer is NO and is supported by strong evidence
from the Quran.
"Those who are followed will clear themselves of those who
follow them, and all relations between them will be cut off." Sura
Baqarah:166
"And
those who followed would say; if only we had one more chance, we would
clear ourselves of them, as they have cleared themselves of us. Thus
Allah will show them the fruits of their deeds as nothing but regrets,
nor will there be a way for them out of the fire." Sura Baqarah:167
"The
day that their faces will be turned over in the fire, they will say, We
should have obeyed Allah, and obeyed his messenger, and they would say,
Our Lord, we obeyed our chiefs and great ones and they misled us from
the right path." Surah Ahzab:66-67
These ayats clearly refute those who claim that the followers are
ignorant and those who make excuses for them due to ignorance. The case
is closed; Allah refuses to let them off the hook in Baqarah 166 &
Ahzab 66…so then what gives anyone else the right to let them off?
Still there are other Murji, who claim that one can make ta'weel
(interpretation) even after the evidence has been established. The most
famous case of ta'weel in Islamic History involved the woman who slept
with her slave boy. When Umar (ra) was getting ready to stone her to
death, she said, "Muslim men can sleep with their slave girls so
therefore I can sleep with my slave boy..." she was making ta'weel.
When Umar (ra) established the evidence, she complied with the evidence
and fell in line with the verdict of the ruling. She didn't abandon the
evidence and continue along with her own interpretation. Whenever you
allow Muslims to make their own interpretation after the evidence has
been established, you are giving the green light for the dismantling of
the Shariah in its entirety. Therefore you become an accomplice and you
become an enemy of Islam…Knowingly or Unknowingly!
The Murji never will cease in his attempts to circumvent Allah's law and
decree. The Murji is always looking for a loophole by which he may
escape his duty and responsibility to Allah, and by which he may mislead
others to do the same. In doing so, the Murji claims that you can
practice what is called "a'uthuubijahil" which means to make
an excuse for the sinner because he is ignorant. The correct refutation
from Ahlus Sunnah wa'l Jammah in regards to this claim is that there is
no excuse for ignorance in regards to Tawheed. It is haram to make
excuses for the one who is committing major shirk, this is in fact
bid'aah in regards to Aqeedah! There is no Muslim on the face of the
earth who is so ignorant that he doesn't know that Allah is the only
lawgiver.
The ijma of the Sahabas is that if you are a helper of the Apostates,
then you also are an Apostate!
This consensus took place during the caliphate of Abu Bakr (ra).
Musailimah the false Prophet was on the scene and claimed that one no
longer had to pay zakat, that one could marry more than four women and
that salat had been abrogated as well. Musailimah wasn't able to
accomplish this as one man all by himself, he had thousands upon
thousands of helpers assisting him. Abu Bakr (ra) and all of the
sahabbas fought and killed Musailimah and the helpers
of Musailimah, and did not distinguish or differentiate at all between
them.
Likewise the leaders of today, who portray themselves as
Muslims while they have dismantled the shariah of Allah, also have
helpers to assist them in their criminality and corruption. They have
wicked scholars on their payroll who pass fatwas legitimising their
treachery, legitimizing the entry and establishment of US Military
troops in the Holy Lands, legitimizing the establishment of riba based
banks in the Holy Lands, legitimizing the peace accords with the Jews,
legitimizing the arrests of thousands of scholars, mujahideen, and
students of knowledge alike with their silent consent in the face of
evil, falsehood, tyranny and corruption!
Once you learn correct aqeedah, and believe that Allah is the only
Lawgiver, and believe in Jihad, Enjoining the Right and Forbidding the
Wrong and Loving and Hating solely for the sake of Allah, the Murji will
label you as an extremist and ignorant.
The Army's of the corrupt leaders are also corrupt themselves and take
part in the kufr acts of the leaders and enforce the kufr laws!
Ahlus Sunnah wa'l Jammah, which is the aqeedah of the sahabas requires
that a true believer either fights or splits far away from the following four groups.
The leaders who commit kufr and those scholars who cement the throne of the
leaders by giving legitimacy to kufr and shirk by way of silent
consent, concealment of knowledge or open approval. Those students who
follow and support and go along with these wicked government scholars
(considering evidence has been established and explained to them) The
Army's and military security forces that serve to protect and defend the
leaders.
"Those who believe in Allah fight for Allah, and those who
disbelieve fight for Taaghoot, so fight the henchmen of the Shaitan,
verily the plot is weak." Sura Nisa:76
"Verily the
Pharaoh, Hammam, and the soldiers were all in the wrong." Sura
Qasas:08
If
your evil and corrupted desires cause you to prefer your opinion over
these two ayats from Allah, the Mighty and the Majestic, then your
aqeedah is worse, than the aqeedah of the kaffirs of Europe! At the
Nuremberg trials the soldiers who participated in the holocaust claimed
that they had been forced against their will. This excuse of theirs was
not accepted and they were not let off for their crimes of participation
and association. If you as a Muslim let them off, then your state is more
pathetic than that of the kaffirs of Europe where aqeedah is concerned!
The Murji continues to duck and dive, searching for a way out, and he
insists that you must practice verification of the status of your enemy
before killing them. The aqeedah of Ahlus Sunnah wa'l Jammah is that if
we should catch you with the kaffirs, then you must be killed with them! Our aqeedah is to kill every single one of them as kaffirs and
Allah will resurrect them according to their intentions on Judgment Day.
Our evidence for refusing to practice verification of our enemy, is that
Allah doesn't practice verification of his enemies.
Sahih Bukhari: vol. 3 pg. 187 "An army will come to attack the
Ka’ba and all the ground will sink and swallow them up with it, when
Ayesha (ra) heard this hadeeth she was worried and she said "Oh
messenger of Allah (saws) how will they all get sunk when there will be
innocent people among them? The Prophet (saws) replied, "All of
them will be sunk into the ground, then Allah shall resurrect them
according to their intention."
Another favorite argument of the Murji is that there is absolutely no
crime under the heavens that is capable of making the perpetrator become
a kaffir and be fought against. They claim the only way to become a kaffir is to declare with
the tongue that you believe your crime is halaal.
Ahlus Sunnah wa'l Jammah believe that sins are of two types: Major Sins
and Minor Sins.
The Major sins are even further divided into two types. Some major sins
do not make you a kaffir unless you believe that the sin is halaal.
Other sins are so major, that it is irrelevant whether or not you
believe the sin is haram or halaal.
Tafseer ibn Katheer vol. 1 pg. 497
"The Prophet (saws) sent a man, Harith ibn Umayr, to go and kill a
man and to confiscate his property. Some people saw him carrying the
Black Flag, which meant death, and asked, "What did the man
do?" Harith ibn Umayr said "He slept with his fathers
wife" …ibn Katheer says in his Tafseer that any man who slept
with his fathers wife after Allah made it haram in Sura Nisa:22 , he has
become an apostate.
We know that the man was killed as a kaffir, because his property was
confiscated.
Also ibn Uamr chopped off the head of a girl who worked magic on Hafsa.
Magic causes you to become a kaffir immediately. Also if you make du'a
to the graves your intention is irrelevant, you become a kaffir even if
you didn't intend to become a kaffir.
The Shirk of Taha (obedience) also makes you become a kaffir. Our
evidence is that the kaffirs of Mecca ridiculed the Prophet (saws)
saying that the meat they ate that died of natural causes was better
than the slaughter of the Muslims. (Their argument is that the meat that
Allah killed by causing it to die was better than the meat the Muslims
killed with their hands)
"If you obey these pagans and eat the dead meat, you become
pagans just like them." Sura An am:121
The Murji also says, "Don't fight, you don't know what is
inside the heart."
Once again it becomes necessary that we refute and correct the Murji
with evidence from the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (saws) and the
sahaba (ra)
Sahih Bukhari vol 3. Pg. 491
Umar (ra) said: "Sometimes during the lifetime of the Prophet
(saws) people were judged according to revelation, but revelation
doesn't come anymore so now we judge you by your actions (the actions
which are displayed publicly and openly before us) so we trust and
prefer those who do good deeds in front of us and those who don't do
good deeds we don't trust, even if they claim that their intention is
good."
Also at the battle of Hunain when the Prophet (saws) was dividing up the
booty amongst the Mujahideen who had participated in the battle, a man
who felt that he was shortchanged for his efforts jumped up and said
"Muhammad, Fear Allah!" Khalid bin Waleed(Sayfullah)(ra) said:
"Muhammad, let me chop off his head!" The Prophet (saws) said:
"Maybe he prays?" Khalid then said: "Oh Rasoolullah,
sometimes people say things and do things and in their heart they don't
really mean it." Muhammad (saws) said in response to this: "I
was not sent to judge the hearts of men, I was sent to judge them by
their external actions." According to the aqeedah of Ahlus Sunnah
wa'l Jammah, which is the aqeedah of the Sahabas (ra) we judge you by
your external actions and we leave your heart to Allah.
In this day and age it is very easy to nullify your shahada and to fall
outside the fold of Islam.
It is easier to do this than it is to come inside the fold of
Islam. When one is first coming to Islam he is wavering, contemplating
the seriousness of his decision, and thinking of all the desires he will
have to abandon. When one nullifies his shahada it often happens very
quickly and suddenly without warning, or even the knowledge that you
have apostated.
The sahaba were returning from the battle of Tabuk against the Romans,
the Romans at that time were a superpower and the Muslims who fought
this battle were Mujahideen of strong Iman. These very same sahabas who
fought and defeated the Romans said something jokingly about the deen of
Islam and when questioned they said, "We were only joking". In
response to this joking Allah revealed:
"Don't seek to find any excuses, you have become kaffirs after
having Iman" Surah Tawbah:66
In this ayat of Tawbah, Allah is addressing Sahabas, people who fought
against the Romans, people who fought many battles with the Prophet
(saws), who ate with the Prophet (saws), who traveled with the Prophet
(saws), people who listened to hundreds of Khutbahs in the Masjid in
Medina.If Allah told these sahabbas that they had become kaffirs after
once having Iman, then what about the condition of the many millions of
Muslims living in the world today who have never had the Baraka of even
meeting the Prophet (saws)?
We cannot close this refutation of the Murji (although the basis of
their aqeedah has been completely exposed undermined and destroyed by
Allah's evidence from Quran and Sunnah)…without first refuting their
understanding of their most favorite hadeeth. A hadeeth that they all
have memorized the way we memorize sura Fatiha. The Most favorite
hadeeth of every Murji is the story of Usamaa fighting the kaffirs on
the battlefield at the tender age of 15;
Usamaa(ra) had overpowered a kaffir on the battlefield and was prepared
to chop his head off when the kaffir pronounced the shahada, Usamaa went
ahead and chopped the kaffirs head off anyway. The Prophet (saws) said:
"Usamaa, why did you kill this man, when he testified that there is
no God but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah?"
Usamaa said: "But Muhammad, he was only saying that to save his
neck!" Muhammad then said; "Usamaa did you see what was inside
of his heart?" then Usamaa said that he kept on asking him that
until he felt so ashamed that he never had felt that ashamed in his
entire life.
We don't deny the validity of this hadeeth. This is a sahih hadeeth,
what we have to refute is the Murjis understanding of this hadeeth.
Before killing the kaffir we must accept his shahada and give him the
opportunity to implement it with his limbs. We must give him time to see
if the seven conditions of his shahada are intact, then if we see that
his external actions are not in accordance with the dictates of Islam,
then and only then is his shahada nullified.
We cannot overemphasize the importance of distinguishing the people of
Iman from the people of Kufr. Allah has given us a criterion by which to
do so. If we fail to adhere to this criterion and to observe the
conditions of shahada and the rules and impediments of fighting the
people who commit kufr and shirk, then
what we in turn are doing is opening the doors of Islam wide for any
rebellious enemy of Allah. In turn this is giving legitimacy to acts of
kufr and suggesting that the shahada of the Muslim and the shahada of the
Kaffir both carry the same weight.
