WOW ! !

INTO THE WILD BLUE YONDER: By any measure, our Tenth Reunion was a tremendous success. Among the many highlights: 460 classmates and hundreds of spouses and children; a lot of food and beer; a boisterous (albeit very warm) P-rade in our flight jackets; fireworks; two great bands; hot-air balloon rides; and a Friday night after-dinner swim in Lake Carnegie (courtesy of PAT CURTIS and SARAH HORN).

YOUR FLIGHT CREW: Credit for our Reunions' success goes to Co-Chairpersons MIKE CULLY and MELISSA MUSLINER, who worked tirelessly over the past year to pull everything together. Helping Mike and Melissa was an army of volunteers, including JULIE BARTON (child care), ELISSA ADAIR (satellite classes), RALPH WRIGHT (headquarters), CHRIS BORMANN (housing), BROOKE ALLEN (food), TOM ZAMBROTTA (beverages), JAMES BURKE (registration), AISHA DAVIS (entertainment), MEGAN DEWEY (entertainment), SUSAN SCHWARTZ (costumes/P-rade), CHUCK FONTANA (publicity), NELLIE GORBEA (undergraduate crew), SCOTT MAGARGEE (class project), SEAN BRENNAN (alumni faculty forum), DAVE MUSLINER, ADRIENNE RUBIN, and MIKE D'EMILIO.

SPANNING THE GLOBE: ANDY WILSON (Vladivostock, Russia) received the award for the '88er who traveled the longest distance to attend Reunions. Honorable mentions go to ROB GLUCKSMAN (Hong Kong), ZENDA KUO (Hong Kong) and JAY WEISS (S. Korea).

HONOREES: During the Saturday class dinner, we announced three new honorary members of the class of '88: STEVE TOSCHES (Princeton football coach), RUTH SIMMONS (president of Smith College) and MYRT WHITCOMB (dean of students at Mills College). Coach Tosches' first year as head coach was during our senior year. President Simmons was the director of studies at Butler College when we were undergraduates. Dean Whitcomb worked closely with many '88ers when she was the assistant dean of students at Princeton. On Saturday afternoon, LIZ DUFFY was one of three Princetonians honored by the Alumni Council for her many years of dedicated service to the university community. Congratulations to Liz and our new classmates.

NEW PILOTS: A new group of officers will lead the class for the next five years: President Mike Cully, Vice President MARY ELLEN ALESSANDRO and Treasurer WENDY MIKLUS. I will be staying on as secretary. The outgoing officers -- President JENNY WU, Vice President ELISSA SHENDALMAN, and Treasurer KIM STEPHENS -- deserve special recognition for all their hard work over the past five years.

MISCELLANEOUS: Our reunion theme "Around the World in '88 Days" was submitted by ELISSA ADAIR as part of our theme contest. SCOTT MAGARGEE is organizing an on-going class project to build playgrounds around the country. If you have any questions about this project, you can call Scott at 1-800-523-2900. The first '88er to sign the registration book was MIKE CULLY. The first non-Reunions Committee person to sign in was KEVIN JONES. The week preceding Reunions, there were 218 hits on the class homepage; this number is more than five times the average number of weekly hits.
