Snowflakes and Memories
by

Martha Bresson

(Mother of SSgt Scott A. Bresson)

Snowflakes sparkle and twinkle in the sunlight,

Brush across my face and gather in my hair.

They surround me.

I reach out to gather them in

But there is no substance to touch, to hold close.

In a moment they came

And in a second they are gone,

But my mind has captured the images

And the delight they inspire lingers on.

Vivid pictures of Scott dance through my mind.

I long to gather him into my arms,

hold him close,

Tell him one more time that I love him.

But my arms are empty.

It seems only a moment that he was here,

and in a second he is gone.

But my memories, like snowflakes, come floating down.

They fill my soul, comfort me, and Scott lives on.
