Greetings from another Champ owner. I have recently purchased 16034 and am currently completing the restoration for the Champ camp in April '98. In similar vein we are replacing brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, flexible hoses, relining brakes, repl cing or rebuilding the Universal joints in both drive shafts and then rebuilding the constant velocity joints and replacing the rubber boots with a new set from Russell Altman's supplier. That's before Christmas. After the festivities we'll be pulling out the engine and gearbox to reach the top drive shaft, stripping the radiator and cleaning the core putting it back together and then we'll see how that goes. It seems i have found a useful hobby anyway. Have a good Christmas, Kind regards Chris Mullett.

Not bad at all! I have an FJ40 which I have just taken off the road and am about to put a 350 chev in as well. I will also be doing a number of other modifications over about a two year period (money permitting). If you know of any URLs relating to Lan Cruiser maintenance/spare parts or modifications here in Aus, I would appreciate if you could forward them to me. I am trying to pick up some tips over the net but most info I find is from the US and details of spare parts/accessories all relate to stor s in the US.

What a suprise that so many champs still survive. I was the founder of Four wheel fun cars in england in 1969 and sold many of these beautiful vehicles. If you want the rear axles to last turn the tracta joints around so that the inner joints become the o ters. That way the loading is taken from the small bearing that cannot take the strain and ultimatly leads to rear axle failure.If you want more info email me.

Aloha! Great work!!, I have been terminally stricken by WN1 7434 since 1975 and I REALLY appreciate being able to see and "talk" to other complete Austin Champ nutters!!! Well, interesting page on Aust AFVs built on CMP chassis. Perhaps you should refer your readers to AMEP = Australian Military Equipment Profiles, the publishers of volume 3: "Australian Scout and Armoured Cars 1933 to 1945", for a more comprehensive co erage of these vehicles.

I remember my first (and only) Champ, it only went backwards but did have five gears in that direction. Now I concentrate on VC and WC Dodges. Champs have become fashionable here now, big change from the 70's when £50 would get you one to drive home. r gards, Gordon.
