In 1965 under the MAP program 11 (or 13?) Cessna U-17A were transferred to the Aviación de Ejército. Of these AE-205 became the first Argentinian Army aircraft to operate in the Antarctic. Even thought it crashed on September 30, 1995 during a snow storm it was rebuilt later and, even more, it is the only aircraft of that type still in operations.
