The first Eurocopter SA-330L Puma of a batch of 9 arrived in 1979.
Six (6) were lost during the Falklands/Malvinas war where AE-506 operated from ARA Almirante Izar (Q-42) during the first fase of the conflict.
The remaining 3 were in service with the Grupo de Helicópteros de Asalto 601 where they performed the transport role.
AE-502 was written-off on November 12, 1993. A further example (AE-507) was lost in a crash in October 12, 1996 leaving the fleet composed of only one example of this helicopter.
