Wabash County Sheriff's Department

Wabash County Jail

The Wabash County Jail was completed in 1979 and was designed to hold 60 inmates. The facility consists of 3 large cell blocks, 2 medium sized cell blocks, 2 isolation blocks, 1 padded cell, and 1 drunk tank. The jails Matron, Flo Dalstrom, is in charge of all meals served in the jail. Meals are served 3 times a day with a total of approx. 250 to 270 meals served each day. The Wabash County Jail is staff (of course) 24 hours a day by male and female Jail Officers. The Jail Officers are responsible for the care of the inmates, and must follow certain regulations set by the state. The Wabash County Sheriff's Department also has regular inspections by the state. The jail not only feeds the inmates, but gets the mail, sets up and oversees visiting, takes the inmates to and from the docter, dentist, and courts (this duty is one the Deputies have also, but the Jail Officers also do transports). As well as having a large kitchen, (See our kitchen) the jail also has a medical room (some of the officers are EMTs), a laundry room and a law library. The jail offers Sunday Church (as well as several services during the week and a GED course, taught by retired teacher Grace Steiner. Please check back as we grow on this page, we hope to add numerous items and hopefully allow you to meet the jail officers and explained more about the jail.
