NEW: encoder + decoder bugfixes
limited shareware version of the MPEG Audio Layer 3 software only Encoder/Decoder FINALLY (imho) better than MP2!: new parameter -hq (HighQuality), about 3 times slower but results in kick-ass quality! registration fee is 250$ , please give me feedback, if this thingy still meets the spirit of my pages! supports input/output formats: RAW (16 bit signed integer), WAV, AIFF and SND/AU 44.1kHz sampling frequency (8, 11.025, 12, 16, 32 kHz and 48 kHz in reg version) for "net-quality" I found best: resample the original down to mono/32 kHz and then use 56 Kbs, that's still UNBELIEVABLE quality! At a ratio of 1:25 compared to the stereo original! for "cd-quality" leave your original unchanged and then use 128 Kbs (automatically "joint stereo"-mode since version 2.60), nearly no audible loss but a compression ratio of 1:11! |

THE mpeg audio layer 1,2 coder & layer
1,2,3 decoder - not realtime, but superb quality
you can use two levels more compression than with COOL and you will get the same quality !!! imports PCM raw-files or AIFF IMHO the best compromise between compressed size and quality is as follows: compression method: layer 2 psychoacoustics: model 2 de-emphasis: no effect compression ratio: 64 K/s error protection: no effect |

freeware mpeg player, no, it's NOT that elliptical
looking alien styled thing known as "vibe" too
misses *A LOT* of WinAmp's "overall coolness" actually but is pretty fast too NT4 taskman says it would need only a quarter of WinAmp's CPU - hmm, xaudio's new version needs 0-1% too while the previous version needed 10%, imho those value's don't say too much) ID3-tag editor, playlist menu entry is a dummy in current version |
