I support faculty in planning, developing
and implementing computer interactive presentations and instruction delivered
via the WWW, interfacing databases to the WWW(most notably with Cold Fusion)
and incorporating Java, Javascript, and ActiveX technology into HTML development
as well as Java client/server applications.
I have many years of experience
programming Client/Server Applications in BASIC, C, FORTRAN, C++, Visual Basic, Java, Javascript, DHTML, .ASP, COM, and VBScript. I have used several
authoring tools to develop multimedia computer based instruction including
Hypercard, Asymetrix Multimedia Toolbook, and Macromedia Director. Multimedia
development tools I am most familiar with include Adobe Photoshop, Asymetrix
Digital Producer, Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Powerpoint, and several versions
of audio and video digitizing software. I spent several years as a system
administrator of UNIX based systems and WWW servers. Last, but certainly
not least, I have a couple of years experience developing HTML documents.
My current interest is using JAVA,
Javascript, and investigating its impact upon interactive instruction.
Previous to this position, I was associated with California State
University, Los Angeles. I worked with the Department of Physics developing
computer based instruction, HTML documents, and integrating computers into
the teaching laboratories to gather and analyze data. I was the systems
administrator of the Suns and PC’s network within the department and maintained
the WWW Server both at the software and hardware level. I also trained
faculty and staff in the maintenance and use of Windows, Windows 95, and
most Windows based applications, UNIX, and the Internet.
I am excited to be associated with
the University of Kansas and look forward to serving the faculty in the development
and use of computers within the curriculum. Together, we can develop applications
that will enhance student learning and be the envy of other institutions.
My motto is "If you can think of it, I can program it!".
