Historical Video Tape of USCGC Half Moon

At the reunion in Atlantic City we showed a number of video tapes that had been made from old 8mm and Super-8 home movies that some of you had taken on the ship and while on liberty in some of the ports that the ship visited. These video tapes were well received and a number of you asked about getting copies. What seems to make sense is to find out what is out there and then go through it all and come up with a 2 hour compilation of the best footage. We should be able to add a sound track to the scenes, like what was shown at the reunion.

If you have either 8mm or Super-8 film or VHS video tape that was made from your old movies, and you would be willing to let us include it in our production it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact John Murphy, PO Box 610, Washington, North Carolina, 27889 as sonn as possible. We'd like to get all the film converted this fall and start the editing after the upcoming holiday season. Once completed, the master tape can be mass produced at a nominal cost and made available to all of you.

Those of you who contribute films or tapes to the project will receive a free copy of the finished work. Your original films and/or tapes will be returned to you. Thanks to John LeClair,Russ Worthington, and the late Ron Freshley's widow Sue for already making theirs available.

In Atlantic City a vote was taken as to when and where the next reunion should be held. The attendees at that reunion voted for Florida after a minimum of five years. It's been 11 years since then and we haven't had any volunteers to take on the task of organizing the event. We'd like to hear from those of you who were not at Atlantic City as to additional ideas for possible locations.
