FAQ's][Worlds][Imperialism II][Back to main page]

Imperialism turned out to be a massive success for those - unfortunately few - who bothered to get in to the game's spirit and spend the many hours it takes to complete one game - let alone win one. Happily the success was big enough to be followed up by a sequel. Eventhough Imperialism (Classic) is thus now getting outdated, there's no reason to forget about it. Good games never die!. If you have an interesting saved game or some good advice, questions, etc., mail me and I'll post it here.

Semi-FAQ (click the university)
This text (in Word) is a kind of a FAQ. It's a collection of posts on the strategic newsgroup (see links). I'd call it inspiration for new and experienced players as well. I don't agree with all of it, but neither did the persons who participated in the discussion, so no wonder! Many thanks to Venice Holmes Jr. for sharing this "FAQ" with the rest of us imperialists

Alternative FAQ by RIP. Note that this FAQ is UNFINISHED. With Imp2 coming up, I will not finish it, but thought that there might be inspiration for other Imperialism players in it anyway.

Special worlds
As you may allready know, it is possible to play in special worlds or to replay in worlds you have enjoyed. To play a special world, ctrl-click on the globe in the game creation screen and type in a word.

Some of the worlds are hard-coded and provide special environments (most of them are mentioned in the Venice Holmes FAQ). The european map is (unfortunately) not available for standard play mode.

These worlds have been recommended by players. I don't know what all of their specials are. Perhaps just enjoyable maps. You probably have to play them to find out? (I haven't tested any of these)

Please note that some of these names may be casesensitive.
If you know about any special worlds or worlds you enjoyed playing, send me a mail and I'll put that world on this page.

Imperialism II!

(The above graphics is from Imp1, NOT Imp2)

ImperialismII is a hit!!! When did a sequel last live up to the expectations?

Frog City has put up a nice Imperialism page where you can read a short description of the game and see some screenshots: Imperialism 2.

The only downside so far is, that Imperialism II does not support PBEM. So if you want to do multiplay, either save up some money for the connection time or make a rendez-vous with some friends for direct connection.

In time I hope to have some strategy hints on this page. Right now I have made a kind of a review, which is the illustarted story of part of one of my games.
