Why I Joined COVV

I guess the main reason I joined the COVV was to get in touch with others
who might understand how I feel.  My father was seriously injured during
the war, and has been medically retired.  He has had a rough time of it for
as long as I can remember.  I am not sure if he has PTSD or not, but he has
many of the symptoms.  Only recently, I found out about my dad and his
life in a place he had never even heard of until he was drafted.  It turns out
that he has been awarded quite a few medals, including the Navy Cross!  I
never knew this, because my dad never talks about the war with me, and I
never asked.  I really want to know him better, and I hope that by
joining an organization like this, I can come to understand him better by the
examples and stories of others.
