Lady Fin Whale, Farewell
Ebony princess, Neptune's daughter,
traveler of the sea,
mother of many, who've served you well,
protector of the weak.
Your country who with honor you served
now begs your life to take
and we, your children, both near and far
can't stop this tragedy.
With heavy heart we did depart
upon your last sojourn.
Oh beautiful lady, you, have sailed
to countries near and far.
For years of a score and seven more
your life has been a joy.
Saint Elmo's fire, it has burn for you
of omens good and bad.
Alas, his torch that burns this day
marks for your life an end.
The ocean she's the mother of life
that e'er touches the sea
and all the creatures that walk the earth
from her is whence they came.
Lady we can only imagine
the pain that you must feel,
to know your body must leave the sea
and ne'er again return.
On your final trek in Neptune's lair
dolphins sing fare thee well,
many whales and fish swim softly by
in silence bid adieu.
This leaves only man to give salute
to all that you have done.
So I'll salute you Ebony Queen,
although its not enough.
Then give for you this solemn prayer
asked of Almighty God.
"Let not your memory fade from us,
and let your name not die.
Before another did hold your name
another may yet still.
Dear GOD, when our time has come, like hers
keep us not from the sea.
Bring her to swim in heaven's great sea
for all eternity."
