And so it has been for the "RAKKASANS", for fifty-five years on the 25^th of February 98! Fifty-five years of unbroken SERVICE! Fifty-five years of VALOR! Fifty-five years of DUTY! Fifty-five years of ALWAYS and in ALL WAYS the "AIRBORNE" SERVICE in a manner that is the standard amongst the Airborne Regiments of the Army and, for that matter, the measure by which any "AIRBORNE" Regiment of any Army in the world is Judged!

THE RAKKASANS lay no claim to being any better than their brothers from other Regiments. But, while they admit that others may equal them, they also know that none have exceeded them! 

However, THE RAKKASANS do lay claim to one important difference from their sister regiments of the AIRBORNE FAMILY, one that grants to them the "RIGHT OF THE LINE"! And, what is the difference?

THE RECORDS TELL THE STORY!

What Regiment is the only one that meets the test of being "AIRBORNE" in ALL WAYS…GLIDER, PARACHUTE, AIR ASSAULT, AIR LANDING? THE RAKKASANS!

What Regiment has Battle Streamers for the four wars (W.W.II, Korea, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf)? THE RAKKASANS!

What Regiment has 15 Battle Citations and 23 Battle Campaign Streamers? THE RAKKASANS! 

What Regiment participated in the liberation of two Allied Nation Capitol Cities and the conquest of two enemy Nation Capitol Cities? THE RAKKASANS!

What Regiment has engaged in combat against six enemy Armed Forces in four wars? THE RAKKASANS!

What Regiment is the only Regiment to have been attacked by an enemy Parachute Force of superior numbers from the sky... and defeated them? THE RAKKASANS!

What Regiment participated in two Combat Amphibious Landings of enemy held shores? THE RAKKASANS!

What Regiment Spearheaded the Combat Air Landing that signaled the end of WWII? THE RAKKASANS!

What Regiment pioneered the Air Assault Concept? THE RAKKASANS

What Regiment conducted the two most successful Combat Parachute Operations in Airborne History? THE RAKKASANS

What Regiment conducted the longest and largest Combat Air Assault Operation in History? THE RAKKASANS

The list could go on, but the point is made. There is nothing wrong with justified pride in "YOUR" outfit! There is an error in claming "Kudos" as if your outfit is the only one who could have done what was done. The RAKKASANS make no such claim! Fate and the Gods of War took a hand, and THE RAKKASANS claim only that they did it…..not that others could not have done as well!
