GEORGIA GIEGLER'S HOMEPAGE
As you can see it was a busy summer this year!  At one point we had five children staying at our house during the day.  Destiny (far right) has gone to a "transitional placement" as she will be moving in with her father permanently, hopefully by the holidays.  The two boys are with us for the rest of the year at least.  Coty (Jen's lap) will be three in October.  Damien (my lap) will be four, also in October.  Coty has a rare form of Cerebral Palsy and is very under developed for his age but has made a lot of improvement since coming to our house in April.  When he first came to live with us he wasn't walking or even crawling.  Let me assure you that has changed drastically in the months since.  He is now into everything!  Damien has almost no developmental or behavioral problems, only a slight delay in his speech abilities.  He has an age appropriate vocabulary but is very difficult to understand at times.  He sounds very cute and is the sweetest child we've cared for since becoming foster parents.  Both boys go to the same thereputic day care facility run by the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation where Coty gets all kinds of therapy and Damien gets help from a speech pathologist.  Sarah Beth just started first grade, has her first "wiggly tooth" and is riding a two wheeler like a pro.  I get the impression quite often that she will soon have no need for daddy.  In fact, she asked me the other day if she could just call me "dad" from now on.  When she saw the reaction on my face she moaned, "Okay, I'll call you daddy till I'm seven."  I never knew someone so small could put such a big hurt on my heart.
As for Jennifer and I, Jen started back to school in early August.  Extremely early if you asked me.  Having taught summer school at the end of last school year she got almost no vacation.  I'm at the Macon Police Department Training Division, for now at least.  During the first week of training in July I buldged three discs in my back and will most likely be having surgery for at least one of them soon.  That has left my future with the Police Department up in the air.  The way I see it, this could be the nudge I need to find a nice easy desk job and quit trying to play Bruce Willis all the time!  I know my mom would be happy about that.  Besides I'll be (Gasp) THIRTY in six months!  I know, I can't believe I've managed to survive this long either.
