Operation Pedestal Two battleships (Nelson amd Rodney), 4 carriers (Victorious, Eagle, Indomitable and Furious), 7 cruisers (including the Manchester, Nigeria, Cairo, and Kenya), 32 destroyers (including the Ashanti, Braham, Foresight, Ithuriel, Ledbury, Penn and Speedy) and 14 merchantmen. One carrier, two cruisers a destroyer and nine merchantmen were sunk, A second carrier, two cruisers and three merchantmen damaged.

In 1942 25 destroyers were sunk in the Mediterranean and 73 merchantmen. The 1941 total was 15 destroyers and 158 merchantmen.
Italian destroyers sunk end 1942 to early 1943 Folgore, Aviere, Pancaldo, Lampo, Malocello, Ascari, Corsaro, Bombardiere and Saetta. Italian torpedo boats sunk in the same period Animoso, Perseo, Climene, Ciclone, Cigno, Uragano and Procellaria. British submarines sunk by Italian torpedo boats, Sahib and Thunderbolt.

U-210, U-90, U-756, U-588, U-356, U-94 sunk by the Canadian navy in 1942.
The following U-boats were lost in the Mediteranean U-73, U-133, U-259, U-301, U-331, U-371, U-372, U-374, U-559, U-568, U-573, U-595, U-605, (U-657), U-660.
