Arkansas

Geography

Located in the southwestern central United States, Arkansas has five main land regions. The Arkansas Valley divides two highland regions-the Ozark Plateau and the Ouachita Mountains. The Mississippi Alluvial Plains and the West Gulf Coast form its lowlands. The Mississippi River forms its eastern border. The Arkansas River flows southeast across Arkansas.

Sports and Recreation

Due to Arkansas' vast numbers of lakes and 9,000 miles of streams, water sports are plentiful. Duck hunting is popular in the fall. Other sports are Mammoth Spring rafting and trout fishing.
