USS ADROIT MSO-509

Poem by Jerry Coppage

She fought her wars of man and sea and took her crew in pride.

This ship was made of brass and wood, her structure true but tried.

In hurricanes, she proved herself, at war her glory shined.

Many men would stand her watch, as on her decks they lined.

Men had came to mop her decks, and make her engines roar.

To sail this lady of the sea, left them tired and more.

These men would sail her around the world, to ports both large and small.

Those who manned her showed their pride, to the last she would stand tall.

The men who sailed up on her decks, and manned her in her prime.

These men now proudly salute the Adroit, MSO-509
