Ken's Sports Center

Well, you already know who my favorite team is! As a tribute to my beautiful wife, I must first make a plug to the repeat NFL champion Denver Broncos. Linda has been a fan of the Broncos since our first football season as husband and wife. 1986. She was a really quick learner. As a matter of fact, she was already calling the penalties that season. The 1987 Super Bowl was interesting. Denver vs. Washington. We all know who won that one. She doesn't get all the credit, though. She has a great teacher. So, anyways, congratulations! Now, let's see how they do without John Elway!

Personally, I've been a fan of the 'Skins since 1976. I've been waiting for them to find a replacement for Riggins since the day he retired. They've been trying, but just can't find the right guy. At least they find a couple wanabees every so often. Somebody will have a good season, demand a higher salary, hold out and...well, you know the rest. I, along with many other 'Skins fans would like to see Coach Gibbs come back. However, he is having a lot of fun with his race team.

"Wait until next year!" How many times have Cubs fans coined that phrase? Well, next year may fall short of our grasp, but it's always exciting. Sammy has brought along a few new fans (fair weather fans) but us die-hards really enjoyed last season. Obviously, I would love to see the Cubbies win the pennant some year. I would like the World Series but I fear that it would make me sound greedy. The nucleus has always been there but so has the TRADE. Can you say Greg Maddux, Lee Smith, Dennis Eckersley, etc...etc... Well anyhow, wait 'til next year!

Didn't I mention I like Nascar? Unfortunately, I've never been to a race. However, I will watch whenever I have a chance. My favorite driver, Dale Jarrett, had one heck of a season. I started pulling for him when he was racing for, who else, Coach Gibbs. That's when he was in the #18 Interstate Batteries Chevy, now driven by Bobby Labonte. They finished 1999 #1 & 2 in points. Of course, I like Bobby. Why not? He drives for Coach Gibbs. He had a heck of a year also. Won a group of races. Gotta remember where my loyalty lies.
