This site is unbelievable. I recognize many team members of team twelve 1970. I was wounded with Jerry Bowlin and Charlie Keough on May 4 in the Tennessee Valley. Bob Clark and I spent some time in the field also. Bob, do you remember that mongoose that ran over your head up near Khe Sanh? Maybe it was a rat. Eddie Fogleman was supposed to go out with team 12 but had to take "P" training so he went out the next week with Ellis and the boys. Bad luck for him and the rest of that team. Jerry Bowlin was Bruce Black's point man and when Black gave it up Jerry was my ATL for awhile. He and I got hit out near Spear on May 4. A real good guy as was his running mate Don Beauchimen. Two of the most neglected team leaders of L Company are of course the reverend Bruce Black and Sgt. Sontag as well as Sgt. Davis. Davis recruited me into L company in January 1970. He was very highly regarded by all who knew him. It is too bad that the guys that have been writing the books about L Company did not include first Platoon Teams in their stories. (except for Surf and Zee). Has anyone seen Sgt. John Luchow. (Leech)? Jim Soumela is living in Kodiak, Alaska. I would like to hear from anyone that remembers "Termite" and Team 12.

Excellent site. Very informative as i've just finished reading all of the "Six Silent Men" and "Eyes Behind The Lines" books. It took me over 8 months to find the books. Its nice to put faces to the names in the book. One question though, could you ,if yo have it, send me a link to Garry Linderers magazine. I think its called "Eyes Behind The Lines" or "Behind The LInes". I've searched high and low for it but to no avail. Much appreciated. Thanks. Keep up the good work and i'll check in again later.

James Meehan and Tex and Hughes went a ong with me. Well, Jim Meehan and Hughes were killed in action on November 14, 1970. What a loss! Could you some how mention them in your site and I will forward pictures. Thanks, it would mean alot to me and maybe to their families. I'll write back soon, Bob "Sparkey Peepers" Clark 413-625-2378

This is the best site ever! It shows the guts and the glory of Vietnam from the perspective of the fighting man. I wasn't there but would have been if I were old enough, (I was only 7 in '70-'71) But none the less I served in the army for 11 years when could. Basic training at FT. Knox KY, Then AIT at FT. Belvoir VA. After that I was stationed at FT. Eustis VA for 4 years, then was sent to Germany to a TAB unit C. Battery 333 FA. There I learned how to run a radar (ANTPQ-37). Oh, by the way my MOS was 52 Delta (Generator Mechanic). No Power No coffee!! Did that for 4 years Then they Moved me out to FT. Riley KS. There I worked in a combat engineer unit 3rd maintenance. Had a sho t stint in Bolivia ( 6 months) under the guise of being a Agriculture Specialist For the D.E.A. building the highest runway for C-130's ever (15,000 feet up) on a mountain. Things got to political for me and had to take the buyout they were offering at t e time. Now I'm a Mechanic for one of the largest transit operations in the U.S. Once again great site and God Bless. Your friend Todd P.S. See ya in April

Outstanding page and pictoral! You did an excellent job, many thanks. But more importantly, many thanks for your sacrifice and dedication during your tour in RSV. I am not a vet, although I am from the Viet Nam era, age 48. By the luck of the draw, I was ot drafted. And after talking to some buddies who survived their tours, I was ambivalent about enlisting, especially since we were starting to talk about pulling out. At any rate, I didn't go,but always felt some guilt because of the sacrifice my friends nd guys like you made. To put your lives on the line, DEROS back and then get crapped on by civilians who knew nothing of your tours, must have been an unbelievable experience. I suppose in some ways I participated in that with some of my friends. Not h ving been there, not knowing the complicated politics that surrounded the whole conflict, limited my understanding of the frustration and anger many vets had/have. As I get older and wiser, I see what men like you were forced to see, at a very young age. That is a government that doesn't know what the hell it's doing sometimes. Unfortunately, in your case lives were at stake and for an 18 year old to comprehend thi kind of chaos is asking too much. It is no surprise that some had difficlty returning to civilian life. Thanks again for your service to our great country, and thanks for an outstanding web page. Places like your page are needed...there are many young kids out there that have no idea what Viet Nam was/is. They need to know what a turbulent time it was for our country and the effects it had on all of us. Again, thanks.
