Camp McNeal near Washington
Dear Kate,
I received a letter from you a few days ago stateing that you would be in Triangle when my next
reached you and I direct acordingly. The boys are all well from our place as usual, but some of
the company are very sick. Wether it is the feaver or not I do not know. Harry has been here and
gone on to his regiment. He felt rather better when he went away. I should like to hear from the
rest of the boys but can not get a chance to see them.
I hope that you will try and enjoy yourself as well as you can try and make it pleasant for
yourself and I think others will for you. I should like to be there with you but the fortune of was
is against me just now. I supose that you will see the President's Proclimation before this
reaches you. I saw it this morning. We get such news before you do. If it had taken place the first
of next month it would have suited me better, but three months will go before we are aware of it.
Then I am in hopes that rebellion will have to take care of itself.
We have been mustered in to day for our pay. If you want any money more than you have, you
must let me or Jerome know the amount. I let Harry have 15 dollars and Dan will pay it to
Jerome. I thought that would be as well as to send it any other way. I think we shall draw some
this month. If we do I will send the most of it home. I mean to save what I can but must use
some. It's the hardest place to keep money that I ever saw. I want you should go and see all the
friends in the country if it takes you all winter. Perhaps I will come home in the spring I
presume that Mother is going with you & nothing to hinder your having a good time. My love to
all.

Tell all the friends I have in Triangle, if there is any, I wish that they would
write to me for I should like to hear from all.
