Membership

Eligibility: Full Member-To have served in United States Submarines or Relief Crews between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946.

Associate Member-Anyone interested in United States Submarine Veterans of World War II who does not meet the full membership requirement stated above. Associate members may hold local office but do not have voting privileges. All other privileges are the same as full members.

Purpose: To Perpetuate the memory of our shipmates who gave their lives in submarine warfare; to further promote and keep alive the spirit and unity that existed among submarine crews during World War II; to promote sociability; general welfare and good fellowship among it's members, and pledge loyalty and patriotism to the United States Government.

National Project: Establishment of college scholarships for the children of World War II United States submariners.

Meetings: Once a month, usually on Saturday, depending on the state.

Organization: The U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II is organized in the USA by Regions, States and Chapters. Each Region has a Director and each State has a State Commander. Chapters have their own organized structures with Presidents, Vice Presidents, etc.

NORTHEAST REGION consists of: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.
NORTHWEST REGION consists of: Alaska, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and Wyoming.
NORTH CENTRAL REGION consists of: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin.
SOUTHERN REGION consists of: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGION consists of: Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
SOUTHEAST REGION consists of: Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina and Virginia.
SOUTHWEST REGION consists of: Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.

An updated listing of Regional Directors, and State Commanders is posted on the back cover of every issue of the POLARIS magazine; which is the magazine of the organization. Membership in the National organization requires a prior membership in at least one primary chapter. The requirement for full membership in the National organization is well defined.
