The Funeral of General Lewis Gustave DeRussy, September, 1999
Confederate General L. G. DeRussy died in 1865, and was buried in Natchitoches near his family home along Red River. In 1999, Steve Mayeux with the permission of several of the DeRussy descendants, had his body removed and reburied at Fort deRussy, the Civil War Fort which he built on Red River near Marksville which bears the name of the general who built it. The photos on this site are of his second funeral in 1999.
