Nitrogen Tri-Iodide

Probably the most unstable compound is Nitrogen Tri-Iodide. For some reason it is most popular with high school brats who have no appreciation with explosives or with the danger involved with the lack of safety.

Other sites will say that the ingredients are readily available. For the good stuff this is not the case. Finding pure iodine crystals to use for the procedure is difficult. You may find the crystals in various chemical supply warehouses and supply stores. The FDA made things difficult to do the things that pyros enjoy. THANK YOU FDA. The way I picked some up was that I happened to live in the Republic of Turkey. It was still hard to find there. I had to use my sharp tongue and my pocket book in order to get some. It cost me $25.00 for 100 grams of the sweet stuff. Here is the procedure:

    1. Add a very small amount of iodine crystals to 20cc. of concentrated ammonium hydroxide. This step must be done SLOWLY, until a maroon toned precipitate is formed.
    2. Now it is passed through some kind of filter (I used coffee filters), then washed with alcohol and the washed again with ether.

(Note) Nitrogen Tri-Iodide must remain wet, since when it dries it becomes extremely sensitive to friction. Even when it is wet it is still unstable. I have seen Nitrogen Tri-Iodide detonate at the bottom of 100ml of water. Only make what you would use immediately. Never attempt to store this compound and always be careful when you are around it. Anything could set it off, wind, sound, and bugs (which may act as a great extermination technique).

Here is what you’ll need:

1-4 grams of Iodine crystals

15 ml of concentrated ammonia (Don’t use the cloudy ammonia. Only the purest for of ammonia will do).

10 coffee filters or others forms of filter paper

50 ml beaker

Paper or a feather on the end of a 1-2 meter pole

Tape

Stirring Rod (Glass)

 

Alright! Here are the steps for damage.

First you add 2-3 grams of Iodine to the 15mlof ammonia in the 50ml beaker. Stir and let it alone for five minutes. Do everything I say next within the five-minute window!

Pour the compound into 2 layered coffee filters. Divide the crystals into several smaller portions, which should be on separate filters. Tape the solid into position on top of the filters. Stand fast for at least 30 minutes. To detonate touch it with the paper or feather at the end of the pole.

 

 Here are some uses for the compound:

1a. Car Bomb

1b. Pipe bomb

1c. Pranks

1d. Pure destruction

 

 

1a. There are several ways you could use this for a car bomb. One way is to put this compound in a baby food jar and place it under the car. This will more than do to obliterate a car beyond recognition. Another way is to use the pipe bomb that I will describe below and place that under the car.

1b. Fill a pipe with the wet form of the compound and place a filter or paper towel over the hole you would use for the fuse. Give it some time to dry but don't be anywhere near it when it detonates!

1c. This will really scare the $hit out of people when this is detonated! All you have to do is place some of the crystals in doorjambs, under seat cushions, and anywhere else people would never expect to find an explosion!

1d. For uses of pure destruction you could place an open jar of the compound in ceiling tiles at work or at a local college. Just wait to see the faces of the people near by when they see that this sucker knocked out walls for 10 yards in radius!
