Stephen & Sandra Brauning & family, serving with

Christian Reformed World Missions

in the Dominican Republic

Update: January 2007

We are on the last leg of our six-month Home Service, and the Lord has been so good!  His providential care and sovereign guidance have covered us in all of our travel, church contacts and visits, planning and preparation.  He has worked through His very generous people to provide us with a home and a vehicle, a good school situation for the kids (Eastern Christian), a supportive home Church (Unity CRC), warm fellowship and hospitality, and too many more blessings than we can name here.

It has been a privilege to report on what God is doing through the mission work in the “D.R.” in a total of 22 different churches from Long Island to Florida to Washington state.  Steve is visiting a few churches in Florida by himself until Sandra, Hannah and Mark follow at the end of their semester (Jan. 26.)  On Feb. 9, we hope to return to the D.R., and we are looking forward to going home!  But the “nest” is emptying out a bit more this year as Rebecca is staying with family in New Jersey to finish the year and graduate from Eastern Christian High School.  Jesse continues at Dordt College.

The D.R. has been our home for over 15 years.  We look forward to reuniting with our missionary and church family there.  Steve will be returning to his main assignment with the Christian Reformed Church in evangelism, church planting and church development, as well as involvement in the Reformed Bible Institute, youth ministry, church construction, and training programs for these and other areas.  Sandra serves at the International School in Santo Domingo, the same school that Mark and Hannah attend.

We ask for prayers for safe travel and a good transition for everyone, and especially for Rebecca’s semester and her plans for college.  Also please pray for our mission team in the DR, as well as the hundreds of Christian Reformed church and school leaders there.  We count on these prayers to sustain and support us and the work.

Our deepest thanks to all our faithful and generous supporters whose donations are vital to keeping us on the mission field.  As the Apostle Paul wrote, “I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 1:3-6).

The need remains for more resources for our own support as well as for projects and programs on the field.  The best way to support this mission work is through your church’s faith promise offerings, or you can designate a donation in our name directly to:          (feel free to contact us about supporting projects or programs)
