What is the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk?

It's an incredibly special event. Thousands of women and men will unite for three days and walk 60 miles in a bold display of courage and commitment. It's a weekend of hope, as lives lost are honored,  survivors celebrated, breast cancer research promoted, and breast cancer care being brought to those who so desperately need it.  Participants walk roughly 20 miles a day over the three days.  At night they set up camp at a predetermined location.  Tents, hot meals, and hot showers, and the evenings entertainment are provided to the walkers by hundreds of wonderful volunteers and crew.

Who has been affected in your life? A mother, father, sister, daughter, friend?
The Breast Cancer 3-Day is your chance to go the distance in the fight against this disease.
You can support the 3-Day walk by joining the walk, being a crew member, one of the many volunteers, and by donating towards a walker's fundraising goal.

Net proceeds from the Breast Cancer 3-Days benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs, as well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, to provide a permanent endowment for breast cancer initiatives.

According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation this year:
·    Over 200,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed.
·    Almost 40,000 women will die from breast cancer.
·    Approximately 1,300 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
·    More than 400 men will die from breast cancer.
·    Roughly 3,000,000 people have breast cancer in the U.S.
·    1,000,000 of them don’t know it!
That's why I'm walking the distance.
To increase awareness, to support early detection, to help find a cure…

Thanks for your continued support,

Carrie
