Great to receive the history. However, nothing was said about our conversion from B-24 to B-17.
This occured sometime in 1946. We were required to check-out in the brand new 17s and the pilots who flew them down flew our 24s back to the States. We were not too happy about not getting to fly our planes back. Instead we returned on a rusty bucket,
the Liberty ship, S.S. General Blanchard. The superiority of 24s over 17s was confirmed.
