George Bowman Hudlow

George Hudlow

George Bowman Hudlow served as 2nd sergeant in Company I of the 52nd Georgia Volunteer Infantry (Enlisted March 4, 1862). He was reduced to the ranks during the reorganization of the 52nd Regiment following their capture at Vicksburg.
Pension records show that George Bowman Hudlow joined the Home Guard. This was probably in the early Spring of 1865, after the retreat from Nashville. The last time he was on the roll of the 52nd regiment was on 31 Dec. 1863, which was one month after the battle at Missionary Ridge. This is the last known surviving muster roll for Company 'I'.
George B. Hudlow must not have been afraid of a challenge. Before the war, he took part in the California Gold Rush (and brought home quite a bit of gold). So he participated in at least two of our nation's greatest events.
