In the midst of celebrating the end of 1998 and welcoming the new year 1999, Paul E. Slowe D.S.M, received a confidential letter from the Police Service Commission informing him that he had been mentioned in the New Year's promotion list.
Effective January 01, 1999, Paul E. Slowe, D.S.M, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Guyana Police Force will be the youngest serving Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Force.
Paul Slowe spent most of his career in the Tactical Services Unit of the Guyana Police Force earning successive promotions from Constable to his present rank. At the present time he is stationed at the Force's Traffic Headquarters.
In addition, Mr. Slowe was the second in charge of "A" Division, which includes the capital city, Georgetown.
Mr. Slowe is an experienced marksman who represented the Police force, Guyana and the West Indies in pistol and rifle shooting. He is also a tactical commander and an efficient and effective senior manager.
In May 1998 he received the Guyana's Discipline Service Medal (D.S.M) for distinguished service to this country in the area of Law Enforcement. The award was presented by the President of Guyana, Her Excellency Janet Jagan at the 1998 Independence anniversary National Awards roll.
Mr. Slowe has represented the country overseas on United Nations peacekeeping mission to Namibia, where he was the Guyanese contingent commander. During that mission he was awarded the United Nations Peace Medal by the United Nations Secretary General.
Mr. Slowe was educated in the field of Public Management at the University of Guyana, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree( with credit). He is also a graduate of the Police Staff College in the United Kingdom, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (F.B.I) National Academy. He has been exposed to several other local and overseas courses dealing with police administration and public management.
