- North Base Camp is located in El Gorah, Egypt, and is accessible to nearby to the town
of EL Aryish by either MFO Bus (free) or Taxi. major cites nearby are Tel Aviv, Israel (1
1/2 hr.), and Cairo (5 hr.) both are accessible by MFO vehicles for free.
- Housing:

- for soldiers PVT through SGT 11'X 14' air-conditioned rooms, one soldier to a room.
Common latrine in adjoining building. All buildings are wired for 220-volt service, some
transformers are available. If you are considering buying electrical equipment consider
dual voltage (110/220) electrical items. Certain electrical items like Alarm clocks will
not work correctly from transformers.
- Laundry/Dry Cleaning:

- this service is available at no cost to you. Generally a two to three day turn around is
required.
- Sewing Center:
-
- sewing is free for any item required for military clothing. A small fee is charged for
alterations to civilian attire.
- Dining Facility:

- the main dining facility is setup in three sections, the Officer, NCO, and Junior
Enlisted sections, all sections have buffet style meals with at least 3 main dishes, and
assorted vegetables, soups, breads, and fruits. There are also healthy choice options and
a short order line. The MDF offers an International selection so that every contingent can
find a meal from home.
- Force Exchange:

- the Force Exchange is a small shoppette sized exchange that carries assorted items,
including, greeting cards, stationary, clothes, beverages, gifts, cameras, electronic
equipment, some CD's, snacks, toilet articles (limited selection), recreational equipment.
- Barber Shop:

- civilian contractor ran, male haircuts $2.00, female haircuts start at $10.00.
- MWR sports programs:

- the force MWR program is very active, sponsoring fun runs, competitive runs, swim meets,
and all types of international sports to include; basketball, rugby, soccer, softball, and
water polo. Competition is between other contingents and with some American, Egyptian and
Israeli teams.
- Travel:

- there are lots of opportunities for travel here in Egypt, Israel, and Jordan, some MWR
sponsored trips include holy land tours, tours of Cairo and the Pyramids, and rafting
trips in Jordan, SCUBA, snorkeling and fishing trips are also easily arranged by outside
travel and tour agencies.
- Gymnasium:

- the gymnasium at north camp has a host of things for the soldiers assigned here to do
there is a racquetball, and squash court, a full-size basketball court, and a combination
freeweight and nautilus room with bicycle, stair and rowing machines for a cardiovascular
workout. Outside there is a combination basketball, indoor soccer court. Nearby are tennis
and squash courts. There is a track and an outdoor soccer/rugby/football field, a softball
field, and a nine-hole golf course (but sadly no grass, after all this is the Sinai).
- Library:

- the library has lots of things to offer to include VHS Videos, CD's, board games, and a
good selection of books for checkout. There are also reference and periodicals to use in
the library to include a good selection of U.S. and foreign newspapers to keep current on
world events.

- there are several clubs on North camp each contingent has their own place, they provide
a place to relax and socialize with soldiers from other nations
