About Troop 109

Age- Troop 109 is a quite rare troop. This is because not only is it 84 years old, but all that time, it has been chartered by the same church. And, that church is the First United Methodist Church in Lockhart, TX. We'd like to give a big thanks to that church for all the support that they've given us. There is another rare troop up in Austin that is older than us. HOWEVER, they have been chartered by multiple churches over the years. So, that's what makes troop 109 special.

One of the firm beliefs that we have is that of youth leadership. We allow the youth to run the troop as much as possible, with advice and guidance from the adult leaders, of course. For nearly a century, Troop 109 has provided scouts with real-life experiences that help them apply their leadership skills at an early age. We strive to continue that tradition.

Location-Lockhart, TX is located about 30 miles south of Austin in Caldwell County. Take 183 from Luling or from Austin and you'll run right into it. Our actual meeting place is on San Antonio St. (turn onto San Antonio St. from 183) in  the First United Methodist Church (It's the church with the big statue of Jesus carved in front of the building.) Thanks to the church, we now meet in their new building which is directly behind the main church.

Our Purpose- We are here to give boys a great mixture of community service, the great outdoors, getting along, trusting each other, and fun.
