...is a non-political, non-profit, memorial organization established to commemorate some of the aspects of our American heritage, specifically, the function of the Union Army Light Field Artillery of the American Civil War era.

These functions include historical interests, an understanding of Civil War strategy, and the role of muzzle-loading artillery in use during the American Civil War.

Our name, Knap's Independent Battery 'E', is derived from, and in tribute to, an actual artillery unit that was recruited from the counties of southwestern Pennsylvania, and served with distinction in the Union Army from 1861 to 1865.

Our purpose is to provide education and generate public interest, so as by our commitment, serves as a continued reminder to ALL Americans, that we as a free nation will never forget or take for granted the ideals that our forefathers sacrificed, fought, and died for.
