ANKHE 1970
Today the company completed its move. Once again since last December 1969 the Gators are back at Ankhe. Until the 1/16th Inf departed their location the Gators have to live in vacated buildings to the eastern side of the golf course. For 9 days the Gators operated from their tempory locations. Then on the 28th the 1/16 moved out, and their area was signed over to the Gators. The move was again on, as the company packed what they had and was prepared to move. The mess facilities were moved first, and then the enlisted men. It's going to take a while to straighten things out, but the outcome will be a new home for the Gators of the 119th.
The 119th Hanger. Here Maintance would work night and day to keep the Gator and Crocs in the air.
The tower at AN KHE. 1970.
In April of 1970 Sappers would find their way through the wire. That night we would pay a great price in aircraft. Not much was left after the sappers were finished.
This is what the company area looked like. Hippy and Swartser were two good friends. Notice the tail rotor chain. Swamp Rat patch on the hat.
The cleaning of the out house. You learned not to walk in the smoke real quick. It was a bad detail to be stuck with. Thus the title SHIT BURNER.
