I think this song playing kinda fits my ever vigilant struggle against people in D.C. who want to "sideline" or make this issue "go away". With people like that of Free Scott Speicher Web Site, Senator Bill Nelson, and the POW/MIA organizations, this will NOT happen, period. It was Generated Oct. 6, 2003. It is as follows: Vice President of the United States Richard Cheney The White House Washington, DC Dear Mr. Vice President; Tell me why it takes so long to find out what I, and the rest of America knew all along. They said that we had left behind one man in Iraq, WHY???? Why did you tell news agencies such as CNN, and others that LCDR. Michael Scott Speicher was dead on the first night of Gulf War 1, when you knew full well that you had no evidence whatsoever to back up your claim, and that you did not stop to consider that maybe he ejected from his aircraft. F/A-18 aircrafts have an ejection seat, or did you not know that? Each pilot before they take off in their aircraft is basically sitting on a seat full of live rockets to eject them out of a stricken aircraft should that need ever arise. I should know this, because I was in a F-14 squadron, and it was the responsibility of the ground crew, and anyone that is involved with the day to day running of an aircraft to make sure that plane is ready for flight. This includes preparing the aircraft, ARMING THE SEAT, by taking out pins of the seat, that in essence arm the ejection seat, which by the way the Plane Captains, and the AMH’s do that, along with a multitude of other jobs entailed in each squadron. The responsibility of the AMH, and AME’s are to make sure that there is no problems with either electrical, hydraulic, or ejection seat problems with the aircraft BEFORE FLIGHT!!!! If a plane goes down, and the pilot can not eject because the pins in the seat are still in place in the event of an emergency, there is a lot of responsibility put on the plane captain as well as if the seat misfires, or does not work, there are other people responsible for that seat if something goes wrong, and if either the pilot or RIO dies in the impact because of a faulty seat, it is the responsibility of that plane captain, or AME, or AMH, and if the investigation that follows proves that it is their fault, then they have to live with that nagging feeling for the rest of their lives knowing that they contributed to the death of a pilot, and the RIO. The PR’s are the people responsible for getting the pilot armed, and ready for flight by checking their gun in a testing chamber to see if it is ready, and has been properly maintained, and a radio and homing beacon to communicate if they are shot down, as well as their oxygen mask to make sure that the seals in the masks, should they ever have a decompression problem, or a cabin pressure problem , not to mention if they fly above a certain altitude where the air is thin, or they need to communicate with flight lead, or home base. There is like I said numerous responsibilities of other ground support personnel to make sure that the plane, and aircrew are ready for flight. Why did you basically tell an outright lie on national tv, and jumped to final conclusions that you had no way of knowing what happened until you got all the facts. Now after all this evidence, that you, I think have never stopped to consider about, and being that I am a Navy Veteran, a Squadron Ground Crew Personnel and being part of this great land that I call my beloved country that I fought for, you are just going to tell the American People that Navy Captain Michael Scott Speicher is dead, without any evidence whatsoever, or that he died for his country, and yet he was a prisoner of Saddam Hussein all these years, FOR 12 LONG YEARS, with reports coming in that he was alive, and neither this administration, nor the Clinton, nor the Bush Sr. Administration could not find him. WHY????? I DEMAND AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE SPEICHER CASE NOW, WHILE THERE IS TROOPS IN IRAQ NOW. HOW HARD IS IT TO FIND ONE MAN???? Why do you send America’s Sons and Daughters off to fight in war, and then if they get captured, or taken prisoner, you leave them behind, or use them for a political pawn??
