CS21B Announcements
(4/8/03) : Updated Final Class Standings are now available online. Thank you all for a great semester! I hope you all enjoy your summer vacation. :)
(3/25/03) : There will be a Final Exam review session today at 1:30-3:00pm. The room will be announced within the day, please check the CS department for updates.
(3/20/03) : Project defense guidelines:
  • Submit your final project to the courses submission site by the time you defend your project.
  • For the defense, do not forget to bring your approved proposal with you.
  • For the defense, be prepared to present your project, explain parts of your source code, and debug buggy code in case lines are deleted. Or in other words, know your project well.
  • Don't forget to include sufficient documentation and comments.
  • Finally, you have received additional points for your midterm exam, please bring your exam papers to the defense.
  • Good luck and see you all on Saturday.
(3/19/03) : There will be no formal discussions for tomorrow's class. (Consequently, attendance is optional) You may use the time to work on your projects either at home or in the laboratory. Also, please take note of the following reminders:
  • The Sign up sheet for project defense is available at the CS Department. Please sign up as soon as possible. Note that the project defense is on March 22, 2003, Saturday. Unless further announcements are made, your final project's deadline will the same as your project defense. Please do NOT miss your project defense, it constitutes a major component of your grade. If you are unable to present on the specified date, I cannot make any guarantees if I can meet you after March 22 for a make-up defense .
  • The Project Proposal is an important component of your final project, do NOT fail to submit it to me either by written or electronic form. Note that proposals must be approved before your defense. Significant deductions will be given for failure to submit your proposals.
  • The CS21b Final Exam will be given on March 27, 2003 at F304. A sample final exam is available at the Aegis Course Site
  • Class Standings will be made available online *hopefully* before the final exam (depending on the TAs who are checking your course work).
  • Since we will no longer be holding any more formal classes, I encourage you to check this site for updates regularly for any announcements that may be relevant to you.

(3/17/03) : Double-Buffering TIP: Here are search results on Double-Buffering. Double-Buffering allows your images to be displayed on the screen without 'flickering'.
(3/14/03) : Project Defense for the CS21b Final project will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2003. Sign-up sheets will be available at the CS Department by Monday at the latest.
(3/10/03): Don't forget to bring your midterm exam to class tomorrow just in case you are eligible for additional points. Also, please propose for your final projects by tomorrow.
(3/6/03): Try out this lab exercise for threads and remember to propose your final projects by next week at the latest.
(3/4/03): Hands On Exam on Streams
(3/1/03): Please review your notes on streams and threads for a possible hands-on exam on Tuesday, Mar 4, 2003. Also, please be reminded that the final project will be in PAIRS. Start pairing yourselves up and think of possible final project proposals.

(2/13/03): There will be no regular class today, Please use the time to work on your project. Also, Happy Valentines Day!
(2/11/03): The Paint A Shape Program's deadline has been extended to Saturday, Feb 15, 2003 5:00PM. Submit at the courses submission site. Additionally, for those who are having trouble with keylisteners, try out key.java.
(2/4/03): I was informed that your midterm exam will be in SECA203. Pls check DISCS for the latest details on your room assignment.
(1/30/03): As promised here's the link to the Rectangle Applet. Also, you may submit your UML diagrams on Saturday at 12 noon.
(1/29/03): The optional Big section review scheduled today is postponed to Friday, January 31, 2003 because Dr. Sarmenta cannot make it.
(1/29/03): The deadline for the UML Diagram of the Paint-A-Shape project will be on Friday, January 31, 2003 at 5:00PM. Please submit your diagrams in a brown envelope at the CS department.

(1/24/03): Specifications for your project are now available online. Please check them out and try to start on it early.
(1/23/03): Advisory grades and class standing are now available in the grades section below. Also, additional information, clarifications, and sample code are now available on files and streams. Please have a look at them.
(1/22/03): The midterm exam has been moved to Feb 4, 2003. Please make use of the extra time wisely. Also, please check the departmental website for the latest updates regarding the exams.
(1/17/03): CS21B Midterm Exams will be held on Jan. 31, 2003. 4:30-6:30pm. The coverage of the exam will be everything until Inner Classes.
