I want to clear things up about my thoughts of 2 Commando's Rebel Flag. When I served with the Airborne, that flag was a symbol of brotherhood within 2 CDO and too others also. Every party we had or when we were in the bush on exercise or Ops, some trooper would pull out a rebel flag and put it on the side of the tent, with everyones approval, except for an officer's. A friend of mine who was an officer and black marched in the colour party for a parade rehearsal carrying the rebel flag prior <2cdo pride> to switching to our Airborne Colours for the actual parade . As for the clowns who said it had to do with Racist and White Power Horse S---, they should of been with us to experience the rush of serving in an elite unit(The Best) and the brotherhood that everyone shared regardless of their colour or religion. The Flag meant a special breed of men(sure we had hell raisers, but you could depend on them in a moments notice) In 2 PPCLI it was the flag was the symbol of the Battalion Hockey Team called "Rebels"(I never once heard any negative comments about the Flag, go figure). And everyone including the higher ups loved the team without thinking about the other meaning of the flag! What really pisses me off is when all these so-called critics and the news media, start to beak off about how Canada's Airborne Regiment is a disgrace to Canada!. Yes, something terrible happened in Somalia and for most, it will not go away. But that incident and all the misinformation and backstabbing that occurred resulted in the disbandment of Canada's Finest Regiment. So all you glory seeking critics and press if you want the truth about something that is not in your field of expertise Ask before you print alot of horse s--- on something you know nothing about. Please don't judge a book by its cover, get the facts straight first oh, sorry you already did the damage, Thanks, You Paraniod Freaks! |
