The KV-1 was the primary heavy battle tank of the soviet army until the arivval of the JS-1 later in the war. The KV-1 when captured was of good use to the werhmacht as was the T-34. Evidence shows that the KV's like the T-34's were reworked by the German army in Remaufacturing facilities on the Eastern Front. A variety of modifications seem to have been done to them including , German style coupolas and even main cannon modifications.
