Hello from Fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia a short drive from Atlanta where we spent the last three years with a quite different job. I went from traveling visiting recruiters to supervising six other chaplains in a deployable brigade, 3D Brigade of 3D Infantry Division. It's a good place to be and I am working with motivated chaplains and chaplain assistants. Linda and I began to move here 14 June and finally got all our belongings in one place on 6 August.
The big event of the year, other than the move, was Matt's wedding on 31 August. Everything went well. I didn't faint or go to pieces before pronouncing him and Suzanne husband and wife. They are enjoying their new phase of life at 1511 Riverside Drive, Hilsborough, NC 27278 (near Duke Divinity School where Matt is attending classes and working with Watts Street Baptist Church of Durham).
Linda is working part-time teaching English and Reading for the Georgia Military Academy on Fort Benning. God blesses by providing her with work no matter where we go (most times its been a blessing).
Lord willing, I will be at the Kelley Hill Chapel, 706-544-3070, ministering to these "young chaplains" and "younger" energized soldiers for a while. Please call and invite me to preach in the nearby area or during vacation time (41 East Scotch Court, Fortson, Georgia 706-322-1775, dnorvell1@earthlink.net). I cannot attend the BMAA in Dallas because of a training exercise in the California Desert. But, I do plan to attend the Writer's Conference in June. On the other hand, all plans change if the brigade is alerted and moves out to points beyond.
Continue to pray for us as we do ministry in the name of the BMA. Pray for our own spiritual growth and for a local church to find fellowship.
