A
LETTER FROM A FRIEND
I heard the news today that a friend had passed away. It did not matter how or why, just that it happened today. We all have friends that we hold dear to our hearts, some are more sincere than others but
they are all friends nonetheless. The
friend I lost today was the truest of all friends. I would have given anything for him without question and I know the same was true for him.
He was a man befriended by all who met him and all were better people because of that friendship. He was and always will be one of the few men
who can hold this esteemed honor. Such
is a person, that just to be in his presence, was enough to make the world seem a better place. I always felt that, no matter what I did,
it could never repay the debt of his friendship. The nice thing is that he never asked for anything in return. This selflessness alone is sufficient criteria for true friendship.
Shawn Patrick Muldowney was much more than that though. His virtue was one of greatness, you just knew if Shawn was involved, things would always
turn out right.
Just to know that I have
been blessed with knowing a man such as Shawn, is enough to be fulfilled for eternity, for there are so few true
friends in this world. I
am thankful that destiny brought us together but saddened by the fate which has changed our lives.
Another great man once said" Have friends. It is a second life. Every friend is something good and something wise to his friend, and between them everything
comes off well".
There is no magic to friendship
and the best way to have friends is to make them. Friends are those who will love you in life and remember you
when you're gone.
I am proud to have called
Shawn my friend.
It didn't matter how life's hand was dealt, Shawn always had the aces. Even if I was dealt the worst hand sometimes,
I still felt happy Shawn was at the table with me. Although we may never play at the same table again, I know that somewhere he still has an
ace not yet played.
In
loving memory of my dear friend,
