K-9 Hanna

(Me and Hanna tugging on her towel)

She is not fat, she is festively plump.

Hanna is a 2 1/2 year old black lab that was donated to me by a veterinary clinic. She was in training to be a search and rescue dog but we thought she would be best suited for narcotic work. During the course of our 10 week training school, Hanna became very unwilling to scratch for the drugs. Those with K-9 can understand the importance of a good scratching dog. My trainer, LT. Mark Weber (Ret.), decided to mold Hanna into a passive indicator instead of an aggressive one. So now Hanna sits on her butt when she locates the narcotics. Hanna is so slow and methodical when she searches sometimes I am wondering if she is searching at all. The good thing is that she always finds the dope and she is great with the kids during demos. I also have a Great Dane at home that constantly harasses my dog so you can be sure that nights at my house are adventurous.
