Herein rest an attempt at honoring the officers and men of C trp {air } 16 Cav, an Army unit that fought with distinction and valor in the Vietnam conflict.

I knew many great officers and enlisted men in C trp, yes, they were officers and enlisted men but they were all MEN ! I'm proud to have served with them.

The insignia above are the unit and platoon patches worn by the men of C trp. The uppermost is of course the unit patch. On the next row are the platoon patches. The "OUTCAST" are the scout platoon, the "4 HORSEMEN" are the slicks, the "MUSTANGS" are the cobras. The units call sign was "DARKHORSE"

C trp had two of the highest decorated men in Army aviation in the person of Hugh L. Mills jr. [ two tours and author of Low Level Hell ] and Chris "Tex" Wedell, a hell of a man and scout !

A little about myself, I did two and half years in V N. The first year was at L Z English {Bon Song} in the central highlands with the 61st AHC {Dec68-Dec69} where I flew B & C model gunships. { I'm working on a web page for the 61st}. My second year and ahalf was with C trp {air} 16 Cav {July70-Feb72} where I flew with the 4 Horsemen for about 4 months and then was lucky enough to join the Outcast Scout platoon. While in the scouts until my deros in Feb 72 I was the platoon Sgt. off and on, due to military rank and guys coming and going {some not of there own will}. I enjoyed my tour with C trp and will always remember the fine men that I was lucky enough to serve with !
