Barracks 105 |
BARRACKS 105: This barracks, holding 15 men, was typical of the living accomodations of the bomber crews in CBI. The open air design provided for ventilation during hot, dry weather, while the thatched roof supposedly provided protection from the rains of the monsoon season. Frequently those living in a barracks would hire one of the local people to take care of the daily domestic chores such as cleaning and laundry. Quite a contrast to the quonset huts of England and the tents of Italy and the Pacific. (Jim Augustus)
