Note: The Alabama Department of Archives and History in Montgomery has on file John C. Green's roll book that he kept while imprisoned in Camp Chase, Ohio. John was wounded and captured at the Battle of Atlanta on July 22, 1864. He was released from Camp Chase near Columbus, Ohio on June 12, 1865. The book contains a listing of men from the 38th Alabama Infantry who were at Camp Chase during this time. There are 451 Alabama men buried at Camp Chase Cemetery.
My gratitude goes to Art Green , grandson of John C. Green, for making copies of his grandfather's roll book available to me. To read more about John C. Green, click here.
