65th VA [French's] Prisoners of War List
French's 65th VA Infantry recruits were captured by the 39th KY Mtd. Infantry on April 15, 1863 at Pikeville, KY.
Most of these men were sent to Louisville, KY, then
to Camp Chase, OH on 4/19/63 and exchanged at City Point, VA on 5/13/63.
The majority was from Virginia and Kentucky and later became members of the 7th Confederate Cavalry, a unit commanded by Colonel Clarence Prentice who they had met during their stay at Camp Chase.
