I am the same John Fenili who, as the Executive Officer of the Co. H Ranger, notified you in 1972 of the true circumstances of Jaime Pacheco's death. I am and astonished to find that our government did not disclose to his family the true circumstances of is death. I am happy to know that through you I had some contribution to that, albeit some 25 years later.

It was an honor to read about a fellow cadre. It was the bravery, honor, pride, and self sacrifice of all the soldiers before me that helped me make the decision to become a proud soldier. May their souls rest in peace.

Very touching story. I was on a six man team in a Long Range Surviellance Company myself from March of 91 to April of 95. The bond is incredible, as you know. Most people will never know the brotherhood Rangers feel for one another. Thank you for writ ng it down. God IS good!

Sir, I was searching the internet for U.S. Ranger stories when I came across that of Jaime Pacheco. I am a 26 year old Mexican American born in Jua'rez, Mexico and raised in Aurora, Illinios. As a young man I entered into the Marine Corps. right after gradu ting from high school and was released before my time was up because of a medical problem. Not satisfied with not completing my tour as many other soldiers I took it all the way to Congress to reverse thier decision that was made years earlier. I currentl am back in the Military only this time I am going to be commissioned as an Officer in the U.S. Army. While reading the story on Jaime I was deeply touched in the way this young man gave his life so that others may be saved. I am in my final phase of R.O. .C at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinios and have learned the ways in which a Christian lives and interacts with others lives. I took your story to heart because before I went to Wheaton College I didn't know or even cared to know what it ment to be a C ristian and love Jesus the way I have been shown over the past years. I deeply regret that sometimes we must loose something in order to gain something else but only Jesus can heal that emptyness. I can't tell you enough how much I enjoyed the memories of Jaime, I was sitting in my office just surfing the net after work and the story hit me so hard that I broke down into tears and had to shut my door. I thank you for letting people like me read this it brings a smile to my face to know that even in combat he littlest things will be forever remembered. I can honestly say that I will always remember this story, for two reasons 1. I took the time to print it in hopes that I too will share this story with my fellow soldiers in times of question. 2. I know tha God intended me to see this today, for some reason I was indirectly lead there so that I know that Jesus works in mysterious ways. I thank you again I will always remember "GOD IS GOOD"- Jaime Pacheco AMIGO - Asta Luego Jaime Jua'rez "B" Co. 17th Psyops Battalion/

Doug--Your tribute to Jaime Pacheco is outstanding. I am proud to have served my country with Co. H (Ranger) 75th Infantry. Although I never met Jaime I feel that I did know him. There were so many fine men in our unit. "...I ask, and know not why, Thorns live and roses die."

Dear Doug&Michael: What a fabulous narrative of a heart-warming story. We can never recover our losses from those years so long ago, but you have managed to make a positive and lasting statement of faith in god and love in humanity. I was with the 1st Cav (Co D 2/5, 3rd Bde) around the same time period, returning home 18 March 1972. Thanks for giving us this story.
