Shelbyville, Indiana - January 1, 2001 - CADET COMPETITION
Cadet members of Shelbyville Composite Squadron have began a monthly drill down competition. The competition occurs each week for a total of three competitions. The overall winner wins a soda from the Armory Coke machine.
Our first month's competition comprised of some brotherly competition. Our first drill down winner was C/Airman Philip Northam. Our second drill down was won by C/A1C Russ Northam. For our third and final drill down it was tied 1 to 1 between both Northams'. Some brotherly tension was in the air but which Northam would prevail and win the competition? Or would another cadet, who had been practicing their drill movements outside the meeting, come into the scene with better drill proficiency to take the 3rd drill down and sending the competition into overtime? On our November 2nd meeting our 3rd drill down ended with only one cadet left and that cadet was...C/A1C Russ Northam! Northam won the drill competition by taking 2 out of 3 victories. The prize was a soda pop of choice from the Armory Coke machine. For those of you who are interested, Cadet Northam selected a Mountain Dew beverage. Congrats to all our competition winners and we look forward to next month’s competition!
The drill down competition will continue each month and is one facet of our new year-long cadet competition called the Kevlar Award. For more information about the Kevlar Award visit our squadron website at: www.geocities.com/cap12184
