The 184th
Report
We’ve been making several changes to our squadron website. We now have a recruiting section that talks about the history of Civil Air Patrol and the cadet program, updated meeting information, a contact page to send us email, and you’ll also notice new graphics and layouts for the main page. Check it out!

Major McClure attended our March 30th meeting and shared his personal experiences of Desert Storm with us. He explained to us a typical refueling mission and he brought in some fascinating videos of air strikes and KC-135 footage from Desert Storm. We’d like to thank Major McClure for taking the time to share with us his Desert Storm experience. We all found McClure’s talk and video very fascinating.
1 LT. Reynolds will be covering this months Leadership class. This month our topic is: Valor. Valor is defined as being strong, showing courage or bravery. Having the courage to do what you have to do no matter the odds. In Civil Air Patrol this courage can be shown in search and rescue. Or by a cadet who is determined to stick to their training regardless of the size or number of obstacles in their way. In order to illustrate this topic we will be looking at the highest military decoration in the United States – The Congressional Medal of Honor. On April 6th Reynolds will be sharing some citations for this medal that seem to come strait out of the movies. But are actual acts of valor performed by everyday Americans just like you and me.
Ground Team members and trainees mark your calendars for the
next practice SAR on April 29th and 30th. There will be
two mission bases: the Clark County and at Ft. Wayne. Shelbyville’s Ground Team
will be participating at the Clark County mission base. We will be leaving
Saturday morning from the squadron van on Mechanic St. We’ll give a run down of
our mission plans the meeting before the mission (April 27th
meeting).
