The 184th Report
On June 24th and 25th members of Indiana Wing participated in the SLS (Squadron Leadership School) and the CLC (Corporate Learning Course). Two members of Shelbyville attended the SLS course. They were: 1Lt. Kristofor Copes and 1Lt. Jeremy Reynolds. The SLS course focused on the different staff positions and their duties at the squadron level while CLC focused on the positions and duties at the wing level. Members came away from the courses with a better understanding of the different positions. Another important aspect was the opportunity to exchange information between squadrons and have a chance to get specific questions answered by different directorates such as Operations, Legal, and Senior Programs.
The June SAREX held at Greenwood Airport was attended by the GLR LO. Our “Friendly Observers” as they preferred to be called observed ground teams, aircrews, and mission base staff as they performed their duties. Shelbyville participated in several ELT searches with such units as Falcon, and Lafayette. Shelbyville was also planning a sortie with an aircrew however the squadron van developed mechanical problems midday. Our team was down for over two hours as we worked on the van’s right front brake. Lt. Col. Ashcraft with is mechanical know-how was able to free the jammed brake so that we could continue with the days activities. After the van was fixed we participated in one last ELT search before closing mission base. The next SAREX will be held July 15th at Terre Haute and Mt. Comfort airports.
Due to an error with the printing of our squadron website in the April issue of CAP News it was rerun in the May issue. Our squadron website was listed again in the CyberWall on page 18 of that issue. The CyberWall is a collection of websites that the editors of the CAP News feel is of interest to other members. We are all very pleased about being featured in the CAP News and have had several positive remarks since this feature was published.
1Lt. Jeremy Reynolds our unit Deputy Commander for Cadets is getting married on July 22. 1Lt. Reynolds is marrying Carrie Prazeau, a recent graduate of Ball State’s Teacher College. The wedding will take place in Shelbyville and the reception will take place on the same drill floor as 1Lt. Reynolds learned how to drill several years ago when he was a cadet. For more information visit the wedding website at: http://geocities.datacellar.net/jeffinvent
We have made some additional changes to the website. We’ve added information about the Senior Program on the ‘Recruiting’ page. There are some new files on the ‘184th Report’ page and look for some information about Emergency Services on our ES page. Check it out!
