LTC. Mark Ashcraft Gets Married

On September 3, 2000 in Shelbyville, Indiana our squadron commander was married to (then) Tonya Upton. A reception was held later on September 16, 2000 in Shelbyville at the Kuhn’s residence. All of us here at Shelbyville Composite Squadron wish Mark and Tonya Ashcraft all the best in their new life together.

No 184th Report for September

Yes, that’s right we missed a month of the 184th Report this pass September. September usually happens to be a rather uneventful month in the life of CAP activities due to the fact that September is the end of the budget year. We are looking forward to a new budget this month so that we can get back into the swing of things with new training missions and activities. So look for upcoming dates and events right here in the 184th Report.

October Practice SAR

A practice SAR has been scheduled for the weekend of October 21st. At this time we are unsure of the details of this training activity. We will have to wait and see how the training funds come down for this fiscal year. We’ll fill everyone in on any October training at the squadron meeting as soon as we have word.

* Notice to Cadets *

Several of you have only a few things left to do in order to meet your next promotion. We would like to see all cadets to their best to test this month and finish up any requirements that you need to make your next promotion. Special Activities application process is just around the corner and any extra stripes you can earn between now and then will only help your chances of being selected. Also keep in mind that if you have participated in an encampment before you are eligible to apply for staff at the next encampment activity. Word is that there will be a Spring Type B encampment and right now the date for the Type A at Camp Atterbury this summer is July 14th-21st. Some of the cadet airman should consider applying for Flight Sergeant at the encampment. If you have questions or need assistance talk with your Cadet Commander, C/2LT Waggoner and the Deputy Commander for Cadets, 1LT. Reynolds.

Incident Command System Course

If you haven’t signed up to take the FEMA ICS course then see 1Lt. Reynolds at the squadron meeting to ask for a form or visit http://www.fema.gov/EMI/enroll.htm to enroll.
